The original "Death Wish" film, directed by Michael Winner, introduced audiences to Paul Kersey, a law-abiding family man played by Charles Bronson. After his wife is murdered and his daughter is left paralyzed from a gunshot wound during a home invasion, Kersey becomes disillusioned with the slow response and seeming inefficacy of the police. He decides to take matters into his own hands, leading to a series of vigilante actions.
