When you download drivers for older hardware, specialized devices, or certain network adapters, you often won’t find a friendly setup.exe installer. Instead, you’ll get a folder containing files with extensions like .sys , .dll , and .inf . The .inf (Information) file contains the instructions Windows needs to install the driver.
Always create a System Restore point before manually installing drivers. This allows you to revert your system if an incompatible driver causes instability or boot failures.
