A long, terrible silence. Maya peeked over her book.

His friend Maya slid a crumpled note onto his desk. It read: “Library. Old PCs. No filter.”

Not a train shadow. A teacher shadow.

The screen of his school-issued Chromebook glowed with a single, damning line of text:

It was 11:47 AM on a Tuesday, and Leo Chen had exactly thirteen minutes to figure out how to save his academic career. Not from a final exam, not from a bully, but from the school’s newly installed "FocusFilter" firewall.

Then, the impossible happened.

“Mr. Chen,” she said, her voice soft but surgical. “Accessing restricted content is a violation of the Responsible Use Policy, section four, paragraph two.”
