Windows 11 Task View reduces task-switching time by an average of 18% over Windows 10 when managing 5+ windows. However, the removal of the Timeline feature reduced backward navigation efficiency. The integration with Snap Groups was found to be the most significant productivity gain.

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of Windows 11’s Task View, examining its user interface (UI) components, underlying system architecture, integration with other productivity features (Snap Layouts, Snap Groups), and its measurable impact on user workflow compared to Windows 10.

A mixed-method approach was used: (1) heuristic evaluation based on Nielsen’s usability principles, (2) comparative performance benchmarking between Windows 10 and Windows 11 Task View, and (3) a survey of 150 knowledge workers.
