A young female researcher, Dr. Alvarez, notices him and, after hearing his passionate rant about quantum entanglement, decides to give him an unofficial tour. She shows him the lab (from a distance), explains her work on particle acceleration, and tells him: “Curiosity is the only credential you really need.” Sheldon is deeply moved—one of the few times an adult treats him as an intellectual equal without condescension.

Mary is hesitant, worried about Sheldon missing school and the family spending money on gas and meals.
